Hello was not the first thing people said on the telephone. The telephone was invented in 1876. Exactly one year later, on March 10, 1876, Alexander Graham Bell first called his assistant. But he did not say hello. At that time he used the word 'ahoi' for greeting. The term was used for several period for telephone greetings. Graham Bell invented the telephone, but another man made the practice of saying HELLO. And he is the famous scientist EDISON. Thomas the discoverer of electric light.
